Maximum Smile

from Speak When I'm Spoken To by Roy Møller

/

about

Eventually, Rob went on the sick, returned to work and after a few months, quit. My telesales career lasted 23 months till I quit, too. Through it all, we kept churning out songs, one which I originated and he helped out with was Maximum Smile. I think the main lyric idea may have come from The Who's You Better You Bet.

Maximum Smile was my first solo single - on 7" white vinyl - for Felicite Singles Club, Hamburg - and an effort to get a Northern Soul vibe going. Stevie Jackson on Danelectro guitar/sitar.

..Is the record any good? well, yes, it’s sodding great. Roy decides to lead us through a 70′s pop romp with maximum smile. (A) very assured pop song that flows along quite brilliantly….Richard Collings, Do Something Pretty fanzine, UK.

lyrics

Double talk, want your cake and eat it
I wanna walk but I’m staying seated
I don’t care at all when we kiss
Why, why, why should I care at all
When it comes down to this?
I know that

Chorus: Once in a while maximum smile
It really makes my night
Blows my mind, maximum’s fine
But a little bit’s all right

The world was made for you and I
Not made for you and some other guy
I don’t care at all when we touch
Why, why, why should I care at all
If we don’t do it much?
I know that... (Chorus)

Once in a while send it out to play
Maximum Smile send it out my way
It blows my mind then it blows away

(Chorus)

Smile - once in a while, smile - maximum smile
