about

One afternoon in the autumn of 1960, artist Yves Klein put on a clean, black suit and jumped off a roof. To him, and many people after that, it was a leap of faith, a spiraling vault out of conurbation, dashing the established artist into an incorporeal world he called the Void.

This action was photographically documented and later exhibited on newsstands across Paris, obviously rattling every soul that encountered. Yet for all this boldness, Klein was far from being crazy. This was a performance for his next exhibition planned to take place at the Iris Clert Gallery in April 1958. The artist decided to create nothing for the exhibition except what he termed Into the Void. (publicdelivery.org)

lyrics

When I jump I bump, I land in a heap
What I want to do i make an Yves Klein leap
Where the sky is blue
The sky is deep as my love for you
Yves Klein leap - like I should
It might be something I can keep
If I land real good

Exhaling ghost green breath at night
Like crystal meth the traffic’s white
Like a forecourt light
Unfulfilling, filament chilling
Yves Klein leap - I wish you would
It may be something we can keep
If we land real good

Clouds so faint on skyline paint
Mix the greys and whites
Sandalwood smells so good
I need a leap of faith - that’s right
Yves Klein leap - perhaps I could
Call it something I can keep
If I land real good

Comes up to me at a bus stop, t
ries to sell me a watch still in its box
I’m watching The Killing, I’m just chilling
But hey, man, you’ve never been hot.
Glasgow ned does in my head,
I know what I want from us
Yves Klein leap right across the street
Right across the sky
